Breakfast at the Rialto

Sat outside this morning and had breakfast sitting at the side of the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto surrounded by Gondolas. The Rialto is one of 4 bridges that span the Grand Canal in Venice. It was first built of wood in the 12th century but this bridge was built 1588-91. The shops all along the bridge were seen as useful by Venice State Treasury who were able to make money from them. They are even busier today - I wonder how much they have made for the state now!
