Lake Minnewanka

Despite the winter look and feel, it is actually spring in the Rockies. Near here we saw a big flock of America robins, and a varied thrush was singing from the top of a tall conifer. Both these thrushes winter further south.

Lake Minnewanka was chillingly attractive in the morning but we were ready for coffee and doughnuts after this. Tim Horton's in Canmore came up trumps.

As we had some spare time before our flight from Calgary, we hoped to see a bit of prairie country but as we descended from the mountains we hit thick fog and snow, so we went straight to the airport. We were able to clear US customs and immigration at Calgary, which made our arrival in Las Vegas very easy.

Now we are starting a big road trip round the south west.
