Year of the Tiger

It’s the start of the lunar new year today, and the Chinese year of the tiger.

J and niece B both received the same seasonal almanac for Christmas. There is a song for each month. B is learning the piano and sent us an audio clip of her playing January’s tune, “Here we come A-Wassailing”. J sent her the same tune played on her recorder. And then had a go at February’s tune, “The Lady of Carlisle”. It’s relevance is that this folk song mentions tigers and lions (there will be lots of lion dancers around the world celebrating the new year).
