Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 222

It is a joggers' nightmare to meet an unaccompanied dog running at you full tilt across the sands and then circling and barking! The fact that I was photographing it probably did not help the situation. Using all my dog whispering skills it seemed to calm down - phew! I then realised that there were two things crazier than this barking dog on the beach and they were its owners about 50 metres out in the freezing sea having their morning constitutional swim. They waved at me to reassure me that all was well with their dog, and then carried on their swim under the vigilant scrutiny of their canine life guard!
