Doha Days

Today I had to make a site visit to review progress on new accommodation for staff. The buildings will be fantastic when they are finished. (All staff are provided with free accommodation as part of their generous remunerative package.) Less generous are the conditions of the construction workers here who, nevertheless, are key factors in the Qatari boom. No hard hats or high vis vests here. No respite from the searing heat. No luxury digs when their day is done. And no shortage of applicants from the sub continent and south east Asia who are queuing up to come and work in this Middle Eastern latter day Klondike.
