Smaller than the head of a pin
Wild Wednesday: Smaller than the head of a pin
The tiny pollen grains of the crocus are smaller than the head of a pin, and the tiny flying visitor that is unknowingly helping to fertilise the flower in this shot is not much bigger itself.
I've put up an enlargement of the little fly as an extra - its scaled to twice the size of the original so the quality is not great but you can see a little more detail if you are interested.
The sun was shining today, and the temperature climbed into the low teens - very pleasant indeed, particularly for February when you consider that back two years today in 2019 it had snowed(!)
