Flower Friday
A couple of days ago I watched a local to home presentation on climate change. Yesterday someone here was telling me that he had watched a Spanish TV programme about the calimas which I have been mentioning recently and are presently covering the whole of the Canaries and are due to stay in place for the weekend. I wonder whether it’s climate change that is causing this phenomena to be the norm now rather than an occasional event which used to occur after a hot spell. I googled “calima” and it showed an aerial shot of the dust blowing over from West Africa. More worrying is the industrial pollutants that are also carried across and can reach all the way over to the East coast of America.
Nevertheless we do have hazy sunshine and rightly or wrongly we are going for our daily swims.
My shot is of a white buganvilla which is a rarer colour form than the usual purple. It hangs over the front garden of one of the villas in our development.
