1932: John Williams is born
Quote Of The Day
"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories."
(John Williams)
The world is a far happier place as a result of the wonderful music that John Williams has given us. Not only does it linger in the memory, it provides a soundtrack to many of our lives. I wonder how many people are like me who, when witnessing a scene in real life or on the other, commence playing an appropriate John Williams composition as musical accompaniment? A far right leader; the Imperial March. A heroic person; the Superman Theme. Happy children at play; E.T. Magnificent animals; Jurassic Park. Anything to do with outer space; Star Wars.
Quite simply, the greatest film composer ever; I could never repay the countless hours of pleasure this man's creations have given me.
Happy 90th birthday, John Williams.
The Force will be with you. Always.
