How Blue?

Normally I expect sunlight to be yellow, yet I am astounded by how blue the snow appears. Maybe because today's skies were clear, the snow reflected blue from above. But in the highlights there are pinkish hues.

What caught my eye were the wavy patterns in the snow, so I used those to lead towards the reeds caught in the light of the setting sun. In this light they are quite orange. I'm trying to train my eye to see more subtleties of colour in the landscape. Maybe then I can begin to use them to improve my images.
