Frosty garden
A bright and sparkling morning with a heavy frost.
When I went out to the back garden to take a picture of this bed of early blue crocus the sun was on them and the frost in front of the bed was melting. Behind the flowers you can see the grass is still heavily frosted.
This little bed is where the two magnolia trees are and though I never remember planting these lovely crocus they have definitely spread. The shoots near the main tree trunk are Iris Reticulata and Tete a Tete daffodils soon to flower I hope.
The border behind has some winter flowering heathers blooming at the moment. The shrub at the left of the picture is a Fuchsia mycrophila, a species Fuchsia that gets very tiny deep pink flowers. It will be cut back in spring ready for summer flowering.
I’ve been out to Tittle Tattle this morning and the monthly book group, when I walked home the sun had gone. Had it stayed the crocus may have opened as they did earlier in the week - extra.
Out for a meal with the Ladies who travel tonight. Only travelling to Bingley!
I put a Flickr album link for our Harlow Carr visit on yesterday’s blip later in the evening. It’s here again if you want to look.
