Phone box
Today was supposed to be the day that the new ovens were installed and we were finally rid of the warped metal bits that caught on the fridge door. This morning the ovens did arrive and one was hooked-up. But the second, the main oven, did not get installed as the installation engineer tested the sockets and concluded there is something wrong with the wiring and it would not be safe. I don’t know if this is some new regulation that prevents it being plugged in - or if the old oven has been using some dangerous circuit for the past 9 years - but we now have a great big gap in the middle of the kitchen where an oven once was. At least we were left with a working microwave/grill so cooking won’t be too much of a problem. I must now order the oven liners that I promised myself I would buy in an attempt to keep the new appliance in a nice clean state.
So that we did not have to look at a large oven-filled cardboard box which has now taken up home in the living room, we went into Kingston. I wanted to donate some old electrical gadgets to one of the charity shops that is able to take them and we wanted to visit the Asian supermarket to stock up on noodles. At least we managed to achieve something today!
