One of the monocular cues that we use to judge distance – the way any view becomes less distinct with increasing distance.
But of course if the atmospheric conditions cause decreased visibility, our assessment of distance becomes less reliable, particularly when making snap judgements, as when driving.
And with such appalling weather that was the sum total of my Blip activity today. We didn't even go outside, despite my suggesting to Mrs B that we had wellington boots and full-length raincoats to cope with just such weather . . .
