There’s posh
Slept well and up and at them for breakfast by 9. Mr PHL wasn’t expecting much (as he’s a bit of a hotel snob but the food was hot, tasty and plentiful.
Back to the room for an hour before checking out and waiting for our taxi to arrive. The weather had turned and it was tipping it down by the time we got the cases loaded. Scenic trip through the Southampton suburbs before we arrived at the terminal. We were 30 minutes before our prescribed arrival time but there were no issues. Luggage taken away whilst we headed to the paperwork check and LFT testing centre. All very smooth and results - thankfully both negative - came through in 15 minutes. Quick visit to the check in desk and security screening and we were onboard before 1.
Luggage was outside the room and we had plenty of time to head to lunch. It’s very old world charm and very friendly. We didn’t the afternoon exploring the shop, unpacking and getting acquainted with our home for the next week. I nipped to the laundrette to iron some of my clothes and had a lovely chat with one of the guest speakers. He was a director of music in the army and his talks sound so interesting. Will report through the week!
So far we’ve enjoyed a three course lunch, a few drinks in our exclusive bar (still need to find out why we were upgraded) and a delicious 3 course dinner.
Blip of the amuse bouche - tuna tartare with the extra the view looking out of the balcony.
We should have departed at 4.30 but the captain (a Scandinavian lady), had decided to wait till closer to
Midnight as the weather in the Bay of Biscay is a little choppy at the moment. Fine by me. Gives me a chance to post today’s blip. No internet again till Tuesday when we land in Vigo so farewell till then.
