BCG

Audrey had her BCG injection today. Apparently it stands for Bacillus Calmette-Guérin. Glad I can just say BCG as that is quite a mouthful! It should prevent her contracting TB for up to fifteen years and is 80% effective. These were the things I read at 3am last night when I woke up in a cold sweat worrying about it. Didn't sleep well and tossed and turned all night.

The whole day felt like a big countdown. She was in such a good mood and I felt terrible knowing what was to come.

Even at the health centre, she played happily on the little police truck (see pic) and entertained the waiting room. In her white cardigan she looked like a little angel.

When they called our name I felt sick. And it was awful. Audrey is so strong, she tried to pull away which just made the whole process longer and more painful. She turned crimson and tears rolled down her cheeks.

Afterwards she was very quiet and had a hurt look in her eyes.

Not my favourite day as a mother so far....
