Toys of Yesteryear

I was drawn to this tin toy today, an exhibit in the excellent 'We'll Meet Again' WW2 museum near Boston, Lincs - and a few fast cars in the extra. It's a very well kept and run establishment with very welcoming and keen staff. I might have to return to have a go on the Lancaster Bomber Simulator - fun now maybe but not to those who had to fly them (or, indeed, were on the receiving end). It brought to mind an old neighbour who was ground crew on a bomber base, and his grim descriptions of the carnage they had to clean up on some of those that only just made it back. It all still lived with him. My generation was a very fortunate one.
