Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 Saturday — Celebration Paint

This is a Celebration Day for me & Mr. Fun. A lot of days are; well, actually I try to find a celebration in every day. So what about today?

Mr. Fun painted the squares on the front of the porch today.

When the professional painters packed-up their cans and brushes and rollers and sat down in their white pants in their work truck and rolled away last April 21st, I turned back toward the house and knew the trim was NOT right. The outlined squares just weren’t right.

Today for our celebration we did not paint the town, but we painted the squares. The outline is gone. A full painted square of lavender (actually the door company called it periwinkle). I think it looks better, considerably better. I’m delighted. And there is one new additional rod-iron piece on the edge of the porch.

If anyone is wondering what we are celebrating. . . keep reading.

Fifty-seven years ago this evening (Feb.19, 1965), Mr. Fun (Tom) asked me to go steady. I said, "Yes!" and that changed the course of our lives.

We were too young to realize we were starting a lifetime together. Three months and 10 days later, we were getting married. The roadmap and the soundtrack of our lives have added lots of magic. Tunes and tours — both of those are things that memories stick to.

But better than the magic has been the miracle of God’s Spirit as Jesus walked right into our 10th wedding anniversary and turned the H2O of our lives into wine. He spoke forgiveness, redemption, and purpose into our ordinary purposeless routines. He breathed wonder and mystery into the mundaneness of our existence. He promised to lead if we’d promise to follow, and He told us straight-up the road would be narrow and that we’d find few who would travel it. He let us know that if we would stay in His Word our faith would grow even when ugly fears were swirling around us.

Fifty-seven years ago we had no clue of the highway our lives were entering. This has been a day of reminiscing and pinching.

Anniversary season at Funville has begun. So, pardon us while we celebrate.

Good Night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!

P.S. And we are living in the same house that I was living in with my parents when Mr. Fun asked me to go steady.
