One of many

Thanks to our local Facebook page, we knew about this tree - just round the corner from us - shortly after it fell, and was at the time blocking the road.  And about the other roads in the area that were blocked by similar trees.

I did not adventure out at the time.

By the time I did get out the following morning, someone had brought their chainsaw and cleared it from the road.  Haven't been out to see if the one at the other end of the road has similarly been cleared.

It was one of a number of trees in the little woodland area you can see behind it that had fallen.

We were fortunate - no damage to our house or garden.  I had pointlessly lain awake thinking about the consequences if there were something serious - obviously we are insured - but the chances would surely have been good that it would delay our sale.  It's amazing how these things prey on your mind at 2 o'clock in the morning!

After a bright start, it rained most of the day, and I see the forecast is for more rain and wind for the next few days.
