A Galaxy Far Far Away

I was looking at the new plum blossoms in the late afternoon light when I saw a strange red glow along one of the tree branches. I think it's a fungus, but it's very odd. It doesn't look red from the other side, or from far away. The light has to hit it just right and it looks like it's on fire. There is an awful pest called fire blight, but I don't think it hits plum trees, and it makes things look scorched rather than aflame. Before I saw this, I was worried about how the changing weather (suddenly a lot colder, with possible rain/hail predicted) would affect the blossoms, but we may have a bigger problem. It's interesting to look at anyway.
