Needle felting hand over hand

J and her PA M were continuing work on their small needle felt replica of our cat Casper yesterday, and I wanted to capture their hands for Mono Monday. J has no independent hand function but has always loved having hands-on involvement in craft, art and baking, and is able to control broad movements if supported to hold the brush or tool, though she is too wobbly for anything fine. Both pairs of hands are gloved: M's gloves are the surgical kind, used by our PAs for all contact activities these days, while J's are stretchy "magic gloves", worn to prevent her involuntary finger picking habit from causing damage to other fingers. When she was young, she always seemed to need plasters on her fingers, which made her skin sore; the transition, many years ago, to wearing lightweight knitted gloves almost all the time helped her to feel more comfortable.

The needle felted cat is now finished and a photo will follow soon.

Thank you for all the sympathy following our storm damage. The roof was repaired on Monday - broken tiles and damaged felt replaced, with guttering to follow. There is still work to do inside, and a huge amount of clearing up outside, but the house should now be watertight again, so we are making progress.
