Bean loves the sun. I swear she’s smiling here.

It’s been a day of picking, watering, cooking..all the while occasionally listening to the latest from Ukraine and elsewhere.

It occurs to me that there are some interests outside of Ukraine and Russia who are going to benefit hugely from this conflict: not least Middle East and Western petro-chemical companies. And arms manufacturers (Britain’s number one export). And of course it distracts people away from the domestic political corruption in various countries (UK, Australia to name two).

But then I’m a sceptic.
