Méribel

Just as we had hoped, we had about 10 inches of fresh new snow even on this late date of April 10th!! In the morning, it seemed too good to be true once we discovered that there was a fire in Brides-Les-Bains (where the gondola is) and none of the buses were stopping there! Luckily Spencer and I have made friends with all the bus drivers, and he made a little detour down a side road to drop us off as close as he could to the gondola. We made it up to the slopes by 9:00 and skied until we couldn't anymore around 4:00. There was almost nobody at the resort. It felt like a ghost town. The hors-piste never became tracked out the entire day because there were so few people skiing. We took as much advantage as we could in the morning before the snow transformed in the sun to cement. By the late afternoon the snow was so heavy and our legs were so tired, that we called it a day and went out for the quintessential après-ski dinner: pizza. Another day well-spent in paradise.
