The Dove of the Desert

Today we visited the Mission San Xavier del Bac. It is an active Catholic Church for the Indian community of W:ak. The last time I was there, it was closed to the public. Today, visitors could enter but into only a small space. I lit a candle for my mom and said a short prayer.

San Xavier became a National Historic Landmark in 1963 but in 2015 it was added to the World Monuments Fund ‘Watch’ List.

We walked around the grounds and visited the gift shop. I bought a few things that tickled my fancy. We each had a fry bread and it was yummy. We made a couple quick stops on the way home. Then my visitor enjoyed the patio sun while I rested my back. Leftover chicken fajitas for dinner tonight.
