Bird Garden

We went to our friends John and Jennie for lunch today. As usual we had a wonderful meal and then went for a wander around the garden looking for the green shoots of spring.

One corner of their garden is given over to bird feeders and they do seem to attract a wide collection of wild birds. After we went back in the house I lurked with my camera by the garden room window overlooking the feeders whilst the rest went in for coffee.

It didn't take long for the birds to return and amongst the visitors were two birds I don't remember ever seeing before; a female pheasant and a lesser spotted woodpecker. Not both at the same time unfortunately but here's a picture of both of them, along with a half hidden blue tit.

Bye the bye, it was definitely feeling spring like today :-)
