Iceland Day 1

We arrived got to the airport bright and early and had a very civilised breakfast at "The Perfectionist's Cafe' and we arrived in Iceland after a short flight. It was snowing but that's Ok the wind wasn't too strong. We picked up the car we've hired for the trip and set off. 

There had been quite a lot of snow and the further we went the worse it got. We were following a small track in an otherwise white road surface. As the sun went down and we weren't even halfway to Stykkisholmur and road condition were getting worse, we decided to turn round and stay in Reykjavic for the night. I think it was a good decision as the road to Stykkisholmur has been closed.

So here's John in the American Bar enjoying the football on the big screen. In actual fact the sound is down and there's some good rock music playing. After a burger and chips (not the sort of meal we were expecting to be enjoying) and a beer or two, we're both feeling a bit better and we'll have to see what tomorrow brings. Perhaps we'll finally be able to take a photograph. We were going to walk put to the Sun Voyager but the snow started coming down hard and we decided it would make a better picture in the morning light.
