A walk, another walk, and Pilates
We walked with our Tuesday morning walking group, but didn’t stay for coffee afterwards, just a quick chat with a few in the group and then we left to do our shopping.
We had coffee and a very light nibble just after midday, as I had a Pilates class at 1:30pm. I decided to walk, so hubby walked most of the way with me, then walked back to the bike shop to collect his eBike. The shop didn’t charge for the puncture repair this time, but did suggest that we consider getting kryptonite-type tyres to combat the glass that is everywhere on Auckland’s roads.
As we walked past the KinderCare child care centre, we noticed the “Spoonville” creation in a corner by the gate and decided it was worth a blip. All the “characters” have been created using wooden spoons. Further along I saw three Belladonna Lilies, or 'Naked Ladies' as they are more commonly known. The term Naked Ladies comes from the behavior of the plant, which sends up greenery in late Autumn, eventually dying back to nothing by the latter part of spring. Then when late Summer hits, the plant sprouts a stem without leaves with a big impressive flower at the end of it. The stem without leaves is where the designation "naked lady" comes from.
I have to admit to being close to tears tonight watching the horror unfolding in Ukraine. It is unbelievable that one person can cause so much pain and suffering to be inflicted on innocent people. He obviously has no moral compass whatsoever.
Auckland continues to be the most heavily impacted part of New Zealand, with 12,530 of today’s 19,566 new confirmed cases recorded in our biggest city. Across the last four days, Auckland has officially recorded 40,143 new infections. The burden is more marked still in hospitalisations. Of 373 people currently hospitalised with Covid-19, 312 are in one of Auckland’s three hospitals.
