Seaside Sojourn
Today we woke up to beautiful blue skies so we decided to ditch our usual Sunday food shop and make a short and sweet trip to Whitstable.
As usual on our visits here we headed straight for The Old Neptune pub on the beach for a pint, to soak up some coastal ozone and drink in the sea views. Wonderful!
After quenching our thirsts we walked back past some of the beached old fishing boats (see my first extra) and towards the harbour. It was busy but so lovely to see everyone out enjoying themselves in the early spring sunshine - people just walking and talking, kids playing games and shouting with joy and a plethora of pooches, some even getting in and out of the water.
My main image is a view of the harbour with some fishing paraphernalia in the foreground and the fresh seafood stalls and restaurants along the quayside in the background. There were plenty of colourful flags and bunting strung further along the quayside including a Jolly Roger (see my second extra).
By this time we were starving so we ventured back into town and wolfed down saveloy and chips sitting outside in the sun before we had to head back home.
As we didn't have time to do a proper food shop on the return journey Sunday dinner was beans on toast! Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices for a good day out! :-)
