Developments

After an absolute age, the plumbers came to fit the pipework for the shower, sink and toilet in the newly-built en-suite of our master bedroom. The walls and doors have been in since before the New Year, but delays to the shower tray (see large white thing that failed to be delivered for 2 months due to manufacturer issues) meant that we fell into the “plumbers are all too busy” period. I got as far as I could with plaster-boarding, electrical wiring and prep. At last the plumbers got here yesterday; they finished today. The shower tray weighs 75 kgs, so young fit men without a dodgy back were very useful in getting it up the stairs and, once pipes were ready, laid in place. They have even changed some of the water pipes in the process that gets hot water to one of the guest bathrooms far faster than before. In fact, we discovered that with the old pipework, the hot water left the boiler, then took a long detour via an old location that used to have a water softener, then doubling back past the heater before heading upstairs to the bathroom. We must have had 15 metres of pipework full of hot water that we never used!
Now, time for me to fit the rest…. After screeding more, painting more, fixing skirting and shelving/doors……..my “it’ll take about 4 weeks”, has taken 4 months. Not my fault, but SO frustrating……Onwards and upwards..
