These are fridges, right?
Our local Council is currently conducting, over 14 days, a ‘Bulky Waste Kerbside Collection Service’. It is a great service because it allows residents to rid themselves of unwanted bulky items without having to pay huge waste disposal fees. There are, however, quite clearly articulated rules about what can and can’t be put out on the kerbside for collection. The invitation we all received from the Council clearly stated:
“The below items CANNOT be collected and WILL NOT be picked up if presented at the kerbside as part of the collection:
. . .
. . .. and
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.”
While I was walking this morning I noticed a couple of refrigerators left out to be picked up. Now, I don’t wish to be unkind, but I find it a matter of concern that given that compulsory voting operates at all levels of government of Australia, the people who put these refrigerators out also vote! Perhaps it explains why our current federal government was elected in 2019.
On a happier note, happy special birthday Mauzee.
