Through Jo's Lens

And They're Off....

A nice drive out today, to Kirkby Lonsdale and Quernmoor...an overcast day but still good to get out and about. Had a bag of squishy chips in Kirkby Lonsdale...yum. I saw a line of about 20 parked up bicycles and then, shortly after, I managed to snap the rear cyclists setting off.

Lewis needed new trainers for PE yet again...his feet seem to be growing by the minute. He wants trainers that he can use for school PE, his boxing club and for running. We opted for running shoes as they will do for all. We ended up with gel insoles too...they must be on a promotion and the guy selling them was very good!

We then nipped into a supermarket and bumped into my friend, Kath, who I haven't seen in some weeks. We've arranged a dog walking catch up in a couple of weeks.

The other good news is that my friend, Linda, who is a musician and had been having a bit of a tough time getting gigs recently due to pub closures in the economic climate, got herself a job in a cycle shop. This is right up her street and I'm really pleased for her. I don't mean that it's literally right up her street as she is cycling 17.2 miles to work and then the same home again (obviously). Seeing as she has completed IronManUK (TWICE) this isn't such a big deal for her...but Linda, you are a star and I'm really chuffed for you! You're not inspiring me to cycle the 7.2 miles to my job as, although I have done it a fair few times, it's along the A6 and I don't want to risk dying under an oh-so-considerate white van man's van! With my three sons, I don't want to die, thank you. Although I will be cycling plenty of country miles for pleasure.

Oh and Linda will still be doing some gigs in the evenings so she's got the best of both worlds. SUPERSTAR!!
