Message in a Bottle

My super-creative sister, Barbara sent Ruth this wonderful new home card which arrived on her first morning in the new place.    A perfect blip choice on the day that I left a nervous Ruth for her first night alone there.

I missed a day yesterday - just didn't point the camera - the bulk of the day and almost all my energy reserves were spent retrieving the last things from Ruth's old place .... a whole car full of odds and ends!

Today we welcomed a friendly electrician who fixed a couple of things that were less than perfectly safe and helped with advice on sensible improvements.  He'll be back to fit a couple of things for Ruth and most likely do a bigger job to bring the consumer unit up to date.   Then I cleared the last of the previous owners 'stuff' from the shed which bizarrely is a lean to against the kitchen!   It's well constructed but does make the kitchen gloomy.   There were quite a few useful things there which Ruth will keep, some stuff worth sending to a charity shop .... and several black bags of rubbish.

Jamie returned from Southampton on the train at lunchtime and before he and I headed home the ever resourceful Ruth changed the lock on her front door!   A handy key and lock store almost over the road made this possible.

So tonight all three of us are in our own homes for the first time.   Think we'll all sleep well, it's been a very busy few days.
