Blackberry jam

Not homemade, but I'll be making some this summer. It goes very well with the tea loaf. 

Thanks for your good wishes for I. Turns out she fractured a toe instead of spraining an ankle. We visited the doctor and got an x-ray, and tomorrow morning see about getting her a walking boot. It'll slow her down getting around campus, when she's used to zipping to class on her bike. But it's good she's home this week. 

We had another very warm day, but it's howling out now with a cold front moving in. The big trees out back really bellow (and billow, in leafy seasons) when the wind moves through them. I spent a couple hours sprucing up the veggie beds, and it was so mild and pleasant with some very light rain and lots of birdsong, and the neighbor kids down the way playing baseball with their dog.
