Sea Shells by the Sea Shore
Although there was no frost on the grass this morning it was perishingly cold thanks to the easterly wind.
-1° my phone said it felt like and the sea temperature was barely 6°. Not that I was ever submerged fully in the sea. Yet again I was forced to paddle while Sue dooked in the Porty brine, but even the paddling froze my tootsies and the freezing wind whistled round my teeshirt as I wrestled with drying my limbs.
The tide was quite high but on its way out, leaving behind a carpet of shells. In the 6 months I have been on the beach at Porty I have never seen so many shells covering the sand. After one of the gales this winter there was a very thick deposit of seaweed along the beach, but most of the time it is relatively clear although there is often a tide line of what I presume is black coal dust.
I’m hoping that this time next week I will get the all clear to brave the waves fully. It’s been hard watching from the sidelines.
