A classic London scene

I was in London yesterday afternoon for a meeting, returning to Waterloo after night had fallen. As usual I cut through Somerset House which always looks splendid when lit at night. This looks like a classic London scene from a film or TV production set in the Victorian or Edwardian period  - My Fair Lady, say. In strict contrast was the crimson illumination of the unapologetically modern architecture of the National Theatre as shown in the supplementary photo.
