Who Are You calling A Mallard?

The Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa) is related to the Mallard and is just as sociable. I wonder why it has 'superciliosa' in its official name as it is not at all supercilious in behaviour but most friendly.

This was one of a group of around 12 ducks hanging around a ferry terminal in Brisbane and within pecking distance of a fine cafe serving breakfast outdoors - plenty of fresh-baked scraps!

I got the train into Brisbane for choir this morning - lots of fun as usual - and am staying overnight with a friend, sorting out a few computer issues. The internet connection here is intermittent - could be due to the extremely wet and turbulent stormy weather! So I'm fingers crossed this pic will load before the connection drops - and may not get to comment on your blips much until I'm home tomorrow afternoon.
