Amandine's Plot Treize

Planting out lambs lettuce

It's definitely been a lot warmer during the day recently but it's typical March weather - which means uncertain weather, windy conditions and cold night temperatures (not a good combination for most plants).

I'm only planting out seedlings that can take it and lambs lettuce is one of them - it actually does better in cold weather than hot weather.

I've planted seedlings in one of the microbeds at the front of the plot, in between rows of radish; they'll be great together and the lambs lettuce is shallow-rooted and doesn't take a lot of space. It'll be nice to have some fresh lettuce leaves to harvest in a few weeks!

I've had to water after planting because the wind had completely dried out the top layer of soil and I was worried the lambs lettuce seedlings would not establish in dry soil (again, as they're shallow-rooted).
