Gardeners' World

This miniature garden belongs to T. My sister had a similar set. It is interesting to note the childhood memories that this toy brings back for us both. I am not sure how impressed our 7 year old grandson was by this old school toy. but he still enjoyed helping his Granny to set it out. Earlier, he and his Granny had been in our new greenhouse to plant some seeds. He enjoyed that! We only had one grandchild with us today as his older brother was on a play (station) date with a school friend.

The style of the leaflet that accompanies the garden is typical of the 1960’s but borders, pun unintended, on being non pc today with its reference to guns and soldiers. When we played with these toys in the innocence of our own youth and the peace of a post WW2 world it was incomprehensible to imagine how history would repeat itself in 2022.

We enjoyed a virtual tour of our youngest’s new home in Hackney this evening. They are hoping to move back in after major refurbishment at the end of the month.

Our main screen TV will be monopolised by Monty Don from 8pm until 9pm this evening. The Six Nations Rugby  will have to take a back seat, aka my iPad!
