Another Return
Joe took an evening walk down the Hio and as I waited to pick him up at the campground I had some time to appreciate the evening moonlight in the tree branches. I was surprised to hear a telltale whirring sound, and sure enough there were woodcocks swirling up into the sky. Soon after I could hear their silly "bzeemp....bzeemp" calls as well.
There were robins all about the yard when I left the house, so perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised. And now, while writing this, I can hear geese honking as they pass over the marsh.
I guess this is a wake up call to start paying more attention. I'll start keeping a closer eye out for the shrike to come back, and hopefully some fox sparrows around the feeder.
