Hummer and Grevillea
This little hummingbird has spent a lot of time the last couple of days sitting on this same grevillea stem right outside the kitchen window. It is such a rare sight to see them sit for so long, I hope it is just young and not ill.
Today was a day of rest in every sense of the word. We decided to divide and conquer so John slept in the guest bedroom with Blake and I slept in our bed with Spike. Everybody stayed put and we all slept better. The time change took effect at 2am and we forgot all about it until we were reading the paper and having our coffee this morning, so we didn't really 'lose' an hour. We took the dogs on the Spike walk where we encountered a few brave cyclists laboring up the steep hill in gears so low they were in danger of falling over.
As we were getting closer to the car a big tom turkey with his harem crossed the trail in front of us, setting Spike into a frenzy of excitement. We decided it was best to restrain him as there was no telling what would happen if he actually caught up to them. They were a lot bigger than him!
The rest of the day was spent in the garden (John) and in the workroom working on the quilt (me). This one is proving elusive but after rejecting several finished squares and putting a lot of the new fabrics out of the way for another quilt, I think I am finally starting to see a plan beginning to emerge.
David will come tomorrow morning and the workroom will become our Pilates studio for an hour. I'm hoping David will address the small leak in the shower, the squeaky bathroom door and the swinging barn door. The latter will require me to take the quilt in progress down so he can either put in a new magnet or a runner of some kind.
We will have an extra hour before the sun sets but the weather is changing and the fire is looking more inviting....
