Garage Sale
Joni and Maya are going through all the bags of stuff that we have been clearing out of the house. I was pleased that they found things they wanted and the price was certainly right. They even took the toile shower curtain which I really like but have no place for anymore.
We had a busy night last night. Coming home from a lovely evening with friends we were stopped at a police roadblock on a country road. John asked if he should go around and they said yes, only to start waving their arms and saying , ‘TURN around’. It would have been an hour long trip if we had to turn around and we must have been looking confused because one of them finally came up to the car and directed us to a detour. Wandering around in an unfamiliar area we passed a parking lot with what must have been twenty police cars, lights flashing. We found our way back to a familiar street and home, but never found out what that was all about.
Not a great way to end the evening but the dogs were beside themselves with excitement when we got home. Took awhile to settle them down and Blake never did figure out where he wanted to sleep. I think he wanted to sleep on our bed but it was full
We were both a bit groggy this morning when we finally got going,. There are now three earthmovers next door and two of them were backing and beeping and pushing rocks and dirt around, raising clouds of dust. It is impossible to sit out on our porch with all that going on and I must admit that my tolerance for it all is wearing quite thin. It just doesn’t seem right somehow that they should have to change the face of the landscape so drastically.
John managed to wrest a huge grass plant out of the ground which had outgrown its to make way for the giant pot which used to be a fountain. Tim helped him move it from the place where we abandoned it months ago to make way for an olive tree.
Moving giant pots and plants is definitely more difficult than moving furniture….
