Monday: Snow Clearance
Our air freight was set to be delivered this afternoon so we took the opportunity to go out for a walk along the river this morning, encouraged by the fact that temperatures had crept to just above freezing. It was actually very pretty - we were intrigued by the ice floes floating down the river and, even more, by the rows and rows of trucks lining up for snow removal. We think this probably wouldn’t happen if another big snow dump was expected so that gives us some hope.
Our air freight arrived this afternoon. Slight issue in that several cases seem to have been heavily exposed to kerosene, or jet fuel, as everything smells of petrol. Something we will need to sort out but, in the meantime, I’ll have to remember not to stand near any naked flames.
My boss texted this afternoon to see if K and I wanted to meet for a drink after work. He’s the same boss I’ve had for the last 3 1/2 years so no need for any introductions. It was supposed to be a quick drink but then he called a friend who came along. Friend then called another couple of friends…..we managed to extricate ourselves after three pints and also decided to eat in the pub, which hadn’t been our original intention.
A few people responded to our hearty greetings (see yesterday) today so we have made progress.
