Gent - Day 1

Up early and drove to Ely to leave my car. Train to King's Cross and wandered over to St. Pancras to check in efficiently to the Eurostar departure lounge. Boarded the train - I had a Premier seat as it was cheaper than Standard when I booked, so had breakfast served at the table. Sun was shining. Out at Brussels Midi - on the wrong side of the station, so a swift walk and up onto the platform to catch the Gent train a minute before it pulled out. At Gent, it was onto a tram to the centre, and a wander. Checked into the hotel promptly at 2 and spent the day exploring (un)familiar areas and doing some photography before meeting with colleagues in the evening. Wandered along the Leie to the restaurant where I had been before for a lovely meal at the Multatuli. Got a lovely room with a view of the Flemish Opera...
