Beza Entoto Workshop

These women are all making jewelry at the Beza Entoto workshop, near the Entoto Hills, in the north part of the city. They looked to be having fun, and had no problem with me taking their photos. They are all HIV positive. And To think I was complaining previously about not being able to run fast.

The jewelry is made from recycled munitions, of which there should be an almost endless supply, given the previous wars, coups and rebellions. Thankfully things are pretty peaceful now.

HIV meds are provided free of charge. Testing is also free for anyone who wants it. There are HIV clinics at all the health centres. The stigma of HIV is still such that people may travel much further than the nearest health centre in order to avoid the possibility of being identified as HIV positive by people they know.
