Spouting again
I didn't really think we'd been affected by the Saharan sand that blew over Europe this week until I saw the windows in the sun this morning. Suffice to say they have now all been cleaned. What with today being the final day of the Six Nations with three matches on TV, I've not done much else (and am not likely to) so I've resorted to a garden blip; the top of our new water feature.
Thanks for all the stars and hearts on yesterday's blip; W thanks everyone for the birthday wishes too. Our meal at the Wiveton Bell was excellent; good food, a nice atmosphere and excellent service. However, the evening was not without its drama. We'd taken a taxi over and had booked a return later in the evening. About ten minutes before it was due the pub manager come over to our table and told us the taxi driver had been in a road traffic accident and would be unable to pick us up. Apparently he was OK, but his taxi was a write-off. They knew they would be unable to get another taxi locally for us at that time on a Friday night so one of the staff kindly drove us home in his own car. This morning I telephoned the taxi driver as we hadn't even paid him for the journey out. He sounded quite shaken up; apparently, he had been driving along one of the narrow lanes near Langham when a muntjac ran out in front of him. Instead of doing the sensible thing and just hitting it, he had swerved, gone up the bank at the side of the road and turned the car completely over, ending up through the hedge and upside down in the adjacent field. Thankfully, he was OK but he refused to take any money from us for the journey because of the inconvenience he had caused us! We will certainly use him again, once he's replaced the car.
