A day of two Peters
Another beautiful, sunny day. This morning in our local wildlife area, we had a tree planting ceremony for Peter, one of the founder members of our little group who died just over two years ago, after a very long illness. Here are his wife, E, in the centre, with two of her daughters and other family members. It was a very nice occasion. The tree is a crab apple, which bears red fruit.
I phoned my mother later today, and she said she had discovered Peter, her tortoise, had awoken from hibernation, had escaped from his house, and was roaming around her shed. Each year he seems to wake up earlier than the previous year. I have asked her kind neighbours to move the tortoise and his house into his garden enclosure, because once he's up, he's UP for the summer!
