Back up the Nith
We walk down the Nith to Castledykes Park. It’s a gorgeous day and the walk is lovely. At the park, there’s a separate portion in the disused quarry called The Sunken Garden.
There are various installations and art works remembering historic events from 12th - 14th centuries. In the middle of the garden a recent statue of Robert The Bruce stands proud.
Back on the other bank of the Nith, past the roofless Rosefield Mill building, to the weir, with a vote of the carnival and the oldest multi arched stone bridge in Scotland (allegedly). Which we fully cross to drink coffee and orange juice sitting in the sun at a pavement table.
I head back home, sow some more seeds, train another apple tree. Nick, Anna-Maria, and Helen are sitting in the walled garden, basking in the sun, drinking cordial. But soon the sun sets, and I head into Porty for a night of social activity.
