No 99-107 West Nile Street

This is another building I pass every Sunday on my way to church.  In fact I’ve probably blipped it before!   No 99-107 West Nile St is home to one of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's earliest commercial buildings. Built in 1858, designed as a small office block and warehouse, it is at present home to two barber shops and a drinks retailer .
Some years ago the facade was cleaned up but not surprisingly it still shows the ravages of time, although there have been some attempts at restoration.  It’s a bit difficult to see that the stonework is etched with what would become his signature carved designs.  The proportions of the building are lovely.
