Birds

We went out to Musselburgh to walk around the sea wall and eventually visit the scrapes, although because the tide was a long way out the birds tended to be in ones and twos rather than flocks. Still it was lovely to see oystercatchers, curlews, redshanks, etc and D was excited to spot a garganey - which he then discovered was actually a gadwall. Doh!

All the time we were looking out to see watching these birds we were treated to an unending stream of glorious song behind and above us from the skylarks who'd come back to claim their territory along the grassy slopes.

Also saw some jackdaws having a jolly communal bath in the Esk (extra).
