In a safe place
Spent most of today covering the work of a colleague is self isolating due to Covid. Did his weekly team meeting; happily I knew about half of his patient load, and the rest were fairly straight forward. Then assessed a patient whose Mental Health Act status needed review. The consequent paper work and note writing finished the morning.
Registrar supervision this afternoon; the College requires one hour per week in individual supervision, even when working closely with the registrar for as much as ten hours a week. Sorted out other issues and got away early enough to stop off at Western Springs Lake for a walk with a camera.
Would have like to have the Pentax rather than the Lumix, as getting the focus right was much more of a challenge with the Lumix.
I was more than half way around the lake when I saw an Australian Coot get very agitated as it was being attacked below the surface of the water by a much smaller bird; a Weweia (Dabchick). The Weweia was proactively defending two tiny chicks which were with the other parent (see the extra).
After I had taken that photo, the chicks disappeared; onto the back of one parent (while the other continue to harass the coots). The main photo was a lucky shot where one chick is showing its head, as the other remained under the parental wing.
