Salamanca
A 66 minute train journey brought us to Salamanca, where our first stop was for a coffee in the Plaza Mayor. This is said to be Spain's most beautiful city and it is easy to see why. For photographers, many of the huge buildings are so close together that getting full, undistorted images is quite difficult. Thus, on some examples, I didn't bother trying to remove the lens distortion.
A bit of excitement was a noisy protest by lorry and tractor drivers, presumably objecting to high fuel prices. There have been a lot of these recently, including one in Madrid on Sunday, organised by right-wing parties and aimed at the left-wing Spanish Government. Given that this is a global problem, that may seem a bit partisan and futile. But hey...
