Wycombe Wanderers 2 Shots 1 :-(
A relatively short away trip today of just 130 miles there and back saw the Mighty Shots and the more than 900 away fans so unlucky not to get anything out of this match. The referee and luck was just not with us after a blatant foul on Sonny Bradley in the build up to Wycombe's first goal. Sonny tweeted after the game that the referee had come up to him after the game; said that it should have been a foul and apologised for not giving it!
This is Jeff Goulding forcing his way through 2 Wycombe defenders to get a cross in for Craig Stanley to score an equaliser from just outside the penalty area into the bottom corner of the goal. For the next 20 minutes it was wave after wave of Aldershot attack, but we got caught by a counter attack to let ex Shots star Joel Grant score. But the sad truth was that we did not know how to deal with the Wycombe strikers who ran us ragged
Tuesday is now a vital game where we need 3 points if we are going to avoid relegation - but for the moment, the faith lives on ......
Over 900 fans (not far off 50% of our home attendance) when we're bottom of the league is a fantastic effort - and this is one of the reasons why I love my team. Facing relegation away from home where we lose, and still the fans didn't stop singing throughout the game - and gave the players a standing ovation afterwards.
I love my team :-)
